Using Potassium Chloride (KCI) for AEFW
Share
If a single coral shows signs of damage from AEFW during quarantine, I treat all of the sps in that batch with KCI. Do NOT treat LPS with KCI as they will melt away.
- Measure 2 tablespoons of potassium chloride per gallon of water from display. Mix until completely dissolved.
- Dip coral for 7-8 minutes while occasionally stirring the water. The acropora should begin producing more slime than you've ever thought possible, this is normal. If treating smooth skinned SPS such as granulosa, lokani, echinata, etc; decrease dip time to 3-4 minutes.
- Rinse in a separate container of display water and return to the system.
- Repeat steps 1-3 once a week for 8 consecutive weeks.
